Introduction

Richmond is a small town of less than 2,000, and is primarily an agricultural community. 

A Brief History

Richmond and its surrounding area was founded as Stockbridge in 1756. In 1765, a part of Stockbridge became incorporated as Richmond, named after Charles Lennox, Duke of Richmond. 


Iron ore was discovered in Richmond in 1829, which led to an iron works being built, which was closed in the twentieth century.
