Richmond, Wheeler County

Introduction

Richmond was formed in 1890 by a group of ranchers and farmers to reduce the travel distance required to collect supplies. It was named after the capital of the Confederacy. However, after approximately 30 years, the availability of automobiles rendered its existence unnecessary, and today Richmond is a ghost town.
